Day 1, Tuesday: Depart USA for London, RDU-London Heathrow (LHR-
Day 2, Wednesday: Arrive London in the morning, transfer to hotel for check-in. The afternoon is free to explore on your own. Dinner this evening is on your own.
Day 3, Thursday: This morning after breakfast, we depart the hotel for a full day tour to Windsor Castle, one of the homes of the Royal Family. The castle has more than 1000 rooms, 300 fireplaces and a substantial collection of the Royal Collections.
Then we visit Stonehenge, one of the most famous landmarks in the United Kingdom, Stonehenge is regarded as a British cultural icon. It has been a legally protected Scheduled Ancient Monument since 1882, when legislation to protect historic monuments was first successfully introduced in Britain. The site and its surroundings were added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986. Stonehenge is owned by the Crown and managed by English Heritage; the surrounding land is owned by the National Trust.
Day 4, Friday: Full day London Tour including the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. The Queen's Life Guard are the mounted troopers of the Household Cavalry who guard the official entrance to St James's Palace and Buckingham Palace outside Horse Guards in Whitehall.
Also included, the Tower of London and the Crown Jewels. The Tower of London, officially His Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, is a historic castle on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. See the sentries posted outside the Jewel House and The King’s House. Marvel at their military dress, unique to each regiment.
As serving military personnel, the Tower Guard work alongside the Yeoman Warders and the Tower Wardens to protect the Crown Jewels and ensure the security of the Tower of London.
The Tower Guard take part in the three daily ceremonies: the Ceremonial Opening, the Ceremony of the Word and the Ceremony of the Keys.
Westminster and Westminster Abbey, formally titled the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter at Westminster, is a large, mainly Gothic abbey church in the City of Westminster, London, England, just to the west of the Palace of Westminster. Big Ben is located right here and apparently it always has the correct time. You can also view the London Eye from the Westminster Bridge. Parliament is also right here. If you love architecture, this is the place to be. Westminster Abbey is the church where the people's princess was married. These three places are adjacent to each other.
Day 5, Saturday: This day is free to do as you please, but Afternoon Tea begins at 1:00pm. Enjoy this last evening in London.
Day 6, Sunday: Depart London on the Eurostar train to Paris. The trip takes 2.5 to 3 hours. On arrival in Paris, be escorted to your hotel for check in. The afternoon is free.
A welcome dinner is planned at Babylone Bis restaurant, then return to the hotel for the evening.
Day 7, Monday: After breakfast, tour the city of Paris, including guided visits to the Eiffel Tower and the Lourve Museum. Other sites, the Arc de Triomphe, Moulin Rouge, and a cruise on the Seine River. The evening and dinner is on your own.
Day 8, Tuesday: Today after breakfast we board our luxury coach for travel to the fantastic
Palace of Versailles, a former royal residence built by King Louis XIV located in Versailles, about 12 miles west of Paris, France. King Louis XIV was known as the Sun King.
We will take a break for lunch at the Palace (on your own) before returning to Paris. The evening is at leisure.
Day 9, Wednesday: This morning Walking In The Spirit hosts a Black Paris Tour, highlighting sites, contributions, and places relevant to blacks living in Paris, past and present. After your hotel pick up in a private vehicle, you will immerse into Black history lived out near well-known Paris sites and in lesser-known corners in the Latin Quarter, Montparnasse, Lower Montmartre, and the Champs Élysées area.
Featured are several Josephine Baker sites, Jazz in 1920s Lower Montmartre around the Moulin Rouge, Sally Hemings and war heroes on the Champs-Elysees, Alexandre Dumas family statues, artists Henry O. Tanner, Lois Mailou Jones and others, Richard Wright and James Baldwin in the Latin Quarter, Bebopper Miles Davis, and many more.
You will have several opportunities to disembark for photos and a 1/2 hour walk through the Arts district and lively cafe area. Return to your hotel by private minivan or continue to you and your guide's lunch at your charge.
Day 10, Thursday: Check out of the hotel and depart Paris for Charles De Gaulle (CDG) airport to return to the USA, and home. Treasure the memories of this great London and Paris adventure.
