HISTORY GETS MADE AT THE CLASSIC
The Circle City Classic will be held on September 23, 2023 at Lucas Oil Stadium with football once again! The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils will take on the North Carolina Central University Eagles. And of course, the halftime show will feature the Battle of the Bands.
The last time Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils participated in the Circle City Classic® was when wide receiver Jerry Rice scored two touchdowns against Grambling, Oct. 3, 1984, according to a release. The No. 1 North Carolina Central University Eagles will make only their second appearance after defeating South Carolina State in 2012.
The halftime show will feature a Circle City Classic “Battle of the Bands” between the NCCU Sound Machine Marching Band and the MVSU Mean Green Marching Machine, according to the release.
The NCCU Sound Machine Marching Band has been featured on ESPN First Take and ESPN Celebration Bowl. The MVSU Mean Green Marching Machine was the first African American band to participate in the Tournament of Roses parade.
